Pressure Washer Accessories Guide: Which Attachment Solves Which Problem
A pressure washer without the right accessories leaves half its capability on the table. Wrong nozzle angle on the wrong surface causes damage. Right foam cannon dilution on a car takes five minutes off the job. This guide maps every Spraysmith accessory to the specific problem it solves — so you know exactly what to add and why.
Start Here: What Problem Are You Trying to Solve?
Most people browse accessories by product type. The faster path is starting with the problem: what’s not working, what’s taking too long, or what surface keeps coming out unsatisfactory. Each row below maps a specific pain point to the accessory that addresses it.
The Five Nozzle Colors: What Each One Actually Does
Every pressure washer nozzle kit uses the same international color coding for spray angle. The angle determines how concentrated the pressure is at the surface — a narrower angle delivers higher impact force in a smaller area. Choosing the wrong angle for a surface is how permanent damage happens. Here’s the complete reference:
The 0° red nozzle is included in kits for one specific purpose: clearing a blocked nozzle orifice. At full machine pressure, a pencil-width stream will groove concrete, strip paint, and penetrate wood in seconds. If you’re unsure which nozzle to use on a surface, start with the 40° white and step down only if it’s not clearing the surface effectively.

M22 vs Quick-Connect: How to Stop Buying Accessories That Don’t Fit
Two fitting systems dominate the residential pressure washer market, and mixing them up is the most expensive small mistake a pressure washer owner makes. Understanding which system your machine uses — and which your accessories need — takes one look and saves repeated return shipping.
M22 thread is a 22mm threaded fitting. You screw it on by hand — clockwise to attach, counterclockwise to remove. It creates a mechanically secure seal suitable for sustained high-pressure application. The downside: slow to change mid-job, and cross-threading is possible if you’re rushing.
Quick-connect (1/4″ push-fit) uses a spring-loaded collar: push the fitting in until it clicks, pull the collar back to release. Change nozzles in under two seconds without stopping the water flow. The tradeoff: slightly less secure than a threaded connection under extreme sustained pressure, and the spring collar wears over time with heavy use.

The accessory question I get asked most often is some version of “do I actually need this, or is it just a nice-to-have?” For most accessories the answer is genuinely neither — it depends on the specific job. A foam cannon is essential for car washing if you care about paint protection and not optional-but-premium. It’s completely unnecessary for cleaning a concrete driveway. A 40-inch lance is the right tool for second-floor siding; for a ground-level fence, the standard gun reach is fine.
The one accessory I’d call universally worth having if you own any pressure washer is the adapter set. Fitting mismatches are the single most common reason accessories get returned. I’ve watched clients return perfectly good foam cannons because the fitting didn’t match their gun — a $22 adapter set would have resolved it instantly. Buy the adapter set when you buy the machine. You may not need it today, but you’ll need it the first time you want to add an accessory and find the thread doesn’t match.
